According to the American Trucking Associations (ATA), the long-haul heavy-duty truck transportation industry in the United States currently has a nationwide shortage of over 20,000 drivers. In a study focusing on the present and future of the long-haul truck driver pool compiled last year (U.S. Truck Driver Shortage: Analysis and Forecasts), the ATA, moreover, found that this shortfall will increase to 111,000 unfilled positions by 2014 if present trends continue....
